LightWorks: Lighting in a Flash! (Free Class!)
Join Westcott Rep Ruben Cruz for this FREE class where we dive into the world of strobes and flash photography.
To celebrate LightWorks, Precision Camera & Video's very first Lighting Expo, we're offering free classes as a resource to learn and find inspiration with lighting.
Join Westcott representative Ruben Dario Cruz for this free class covering the basics of strobes and flash photography. Learn how strobes work, how to measure and control exposure, how modifier choices affect the quality of your light, and—most importantly—where to put the light and why.
You'll see how quickly a single light can transform a portrait, then build on that foundation with two- and three-light setups. We'll also explore creative techniques like adding color to your backgrounds to give your images more depth, energy, and personality.
Whether you're brand new to studio lighting or already comfortable with flash but want more consistency and creative control, this class will give you the tools to start creating intentional, professional-looking light.
What You'll Learn:
- One, Two, & Three-Light Setups — Build lighting setups from simple to more advanced and understand the role each light plays.
- Metering for Strobes — Understand how to measure flash exposure and make adjustments with confidence.
- Choosing the Right Modifier — Explore how softboxes, umbrellas, reflectors, and other modifiers change the size, quality, and direction of light.
- Gelling the Background — Add color to your background and learn how gels can completely transform an otherwise simple setup.
