Feathers Film Night: Rab x Sports Basement Presidio

An evening of new adventure films from Rab, plus drinks, popcorn, and a raffle. Proceeds benefit VistAbility

The films

Continuum (10 min) Doug Evans has skied at least once every month for more than 23 years. The film is less about the streak than about what it looks like to build a life around one thing and keep showing up for it.

Winner Gets Cake (20 min) Fell running has no marked course, brutal weather, and cake at the finish. This one follows Ben Rothery through the English championships and the tight-knit community that keeps the sport alive.

Zelzin: Footprints that Inspire (24 min) Zelzin Aketzalli was the first person from Mexico to complete hiking's Triple Crown. She returns to the Iztaccíhuatl volcano outside Mexico City, where she started, and looks at what it cost to go first.

Where your ticket goes

Every dollar from ticket sales goes to VistAbility, a Contra Costa nonprofit that has supported children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 1965. Rab is providing gear for a raffle at the end of the night.

Rab started in 1981 in the attic of a terraced house in Sheffield, England, where climber Rab Carrington hand-stitched the first down sleeping bag to carry his name. He'd learned to sew from a friend in Buenos Aires eight years earlier, stranded there when a dock strike stopped his gear from reaching a Patagonia expedition. Forty-five years on, Rab still makes sleeping bags in Derbyshire, and still calls itself The Mountain People.
