Exploring the Inner World of Dissociative Identity Disorder

Overview

This 6-hour, in person, CEU course will provide LMFT and LPCC therapists with a trauma-informed understanding of DID

Exploring the Inner World of Dissociative Identity Disorder

Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) is increasingly recognized as a complex trauma response that is more prevalent than previously understood. DID continues to be widely misunderstood and misrepresented leading to misconceptions that can affect assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.

Participants will explore contempor ary perspectives that conceptualize dissociative identity states as adaptive survival responses developed in the context of chronic childhood neglect, attachment disruptions, and abuse.

Special attention will be given to the use of "parts work" and multimodal interventions, including talk therapy and expressive arts techniques, within the scope of MLFT & LPCC therapy practice. Therapists will learn how these approaches can facilitate communication among internal identity states.
