Textile Traditions: A Handmade Ornament Workshop

Textile Traditions: A Handmade Ornament Workshop

Overview

Celebrate the upcoming holidays be creating TWO sets of ornaments, using traditional textile techniques: Kimekomi and handweaving!

Join us for a creative holiday workshop collab where two fiber artists will teach you traditional techniques to create 4 holiday ornaments in textiles!

In the first half of the 3-hour workshop, you'll learn the ancient Japanese art of Kimekomi--the intersection of fabric with a base--from Carme of Karmigurumi and create your own festive ornaments.

In the second half, Cara of Cara Bella Designs will guide you in handweaving textural hoop ornaments using a variety of textiles in traditional or non-traditional holiday colors.

No prior experience is needed—just come ready to experiment with fabric, yarn, and other textiles!

All materials are provided, and you’ll leave with your own handmade holiday ornaments to enjoy or gift this season.
