5TH SEASON CLOSING CONCERT
Join Westside Chamber Players for the closing concert of our 2026–27 season, featuring the WORLD PREMIERE of Sofia Ouyang's Saxophone Concerto written for NYC-based multi-instrumentalist Thomas Giles alongside Brahms' First Symphony.
Conducted by Artistic Director Julius Akira Mauldin, the program brings together two works that explore the excitement, uncertainty, and possibility of beginning something new. Ouyang’s new concerto was written specifically for Giles, showcasing his versatility and distinctive musical voice, while Brahms’ First Symphony marks a pivotal beginning of its own: a work that looks toward the symphonic tradition while forging a path unmistakably its own.
Program:
