Pianist Bill O’Connell, bassist Oscar Stagnaro and drummer Richie Barshay bring modern and Latin jazz fire to The River Room Sat., Oct. 10!
Join us at The River Room on Saturday, October 10th for an evening with the Bill O’Connell Trio—led by one of jazz’s most accomplished and distinctive pianists, composers, arrangers, and bandleaders. Showtime is 7:30 PM; doors open at 6:30 PM.
For nearly five decades, Bill O’Connell has forged a remarkable career across modern jazz and Latin jazz, earning four SESAC Jazz Writer of the Year honors and a 2022 Grammy nomination for Best Instrumental Arrangement. DownBeat has praised him as “an inspired hybridizer of modernist jazz and Afrodiasporic idioms,” while critics have noted the lyrical influence of Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett, Chick Corea, and Herbie Hancock in his deeply personal piano voice.
O’Connell’s résumé includes acclaimed work with Mongo Santamaría, Dave Valentín, Astrud Gilberto, Sonny Rollins, Chet Baker, Gato Barbieri, Jerry González’s Fort Apache Band, and Conrad Herwig’s celebrated Latin Side Of recordings. His playing brings together sophisticated harmony, rhythmic fire, melodic invention, and the joyful energy of Latin jazz.
For this special River Room performance, O’Connell is joined by four-time Grammy Award-winning bassist Oscar Stagnaro and prodigy drummer Richie Barshay—two extraordinary musicians whose virtuosity and chemistry promise a thrilling, intimate trio concert.
Experience a master musician still expanding the possibilities of jazz, one brilliant phrase at a time.
