Greece's new generation of winemakers, poured across four of Yanni's courses. Wines with people behind them.
A Journey Across the Greek Terroir
One night with NICE EYES WINES and Yanni's kitchen
There is a small cellar under a house on Ikaria. That is where all of this started.
Phil grew up on his grandparents' homemade wine and on the bottles poured in his father's village on Ikaria, the island that never seems to sleep in summer. He trained as a designer, worked in film and television, and could not shake the feeling that he was meant to be outside with his hands in the dirt.
A little over seven years ago, he and his wife Ruby left. They went to Sicily and worked at Azienda Agricola COS, where the wine still ferments in clay pithari, exactly the way Phil's grandfather made it. Then Tuscany. Then back to Ikaria, to his family's old vineyards, overgrown and half dead, to find out what could be brought back to life.
Along the way he met a generation of young Greek winemakers who were doing something remarkable. Making wines rooted in the oldest traditions in the Mediterranean that could stand beside anything from France or Italy.
NICE EYES WINES exists to get those bottles, and those stories, to our side of the world.
For one night, Phil is bringing four of them to us.
The pours
You will be met at the door with an ice cold tsikoudia, the way every dinner starts in Crete.
2024 Karimalis Ikarian Pet-Nat 'With Love' (Begleri)
Green lime, stone fruit and fine bubbles, from Phil's own island.
2025 SRTK (Assyrtiko)
Lemon zest, saline peach blossom, taut and mineral.
2024 Iliana Malihin (Liatiko)
A beautifully perfumed and powerful southern Cretan red from a grower whose vineyards were caught in this year’s fires. Pouring it here means something.
2025 ORANGE (Assyrtiko, Roditis, Savatiano and more)
Tangerine, tamarind and savoury ginger. Extraordinary.
Yanni's table
Four courses, built by Yanni to sit against these bottles and drawn from the same landscapes they come from. Announced closer to the night.
