Annual Trauma Summit

Narayana Health presents the Narayana Trauma Summit, a cross-sector forum on one of India's most solvable public health failures: the preventable death and disability that follows injury.

Trauma kills a disproportionate share of India's young and working-age population, and the losses are concentrated not in the operating theatre but in the hours and systems that surround it — the call that never reaches an ambulance, the ambulance that reaches the wrong hospital, the referral that arrives too late, the survivor who never gets rehabilitation and never returns to work. Fixing this is not a clinical problem alone. It requires policy, financing, infrastructure, data, technology, and coordination across institutions that rarely sit in the same room.

The Summit is designed to put them in one.

Who convenes here
Policymakers and health ministry officials; state administrators; regulators and highway and transport authorities; hospital and health-system leadership; trauma clinicians and emergency care providers; EMS and first-responder networks; health-tech and medtech startups; insurers and payers; investors and philanthropic funders; academic and public health researchers; NGOs and road safety advocates; and industry partners in logistics, automotive, mining, and construction where occupational injury is concentrated.

What the agenda covers

• Systems and policy — trauma network design, hub-and-spoke referral models, designation and accreditation of trauma centres, and the legislative and regulatory levers that make them work
• Pre-hospital and first response — ambulance coverage, dispatch, bystander care, Good Samaritan protections, and the golden hour in practice rather than principle
• Financing — who pays for trauma care, the role of public insurance schemes, cashless emergency treatment, and the economics of under-triage and over-triage
• Data and accountability — injury surveillance, trauma registries, interoperability, and using outcome data to drive quality
• Technology and innovation — a startup showcase and investor track spanning triage tools, telemedicine, imaging and AI decision support, logistics, blood supply chains, and rehabilitation technology
• Prevention — road safety engineering, vehicle and helmet standards, enforcement, occupational safety, and behaviour change
• Rehabilitation and reintegration — the long tail of disability, caregiver burden, and return-to-work pathways
• Clinical excellence — evidence-based trauma care, damage control resuscitation, polytrauma management, and capacity building through simulation and training

Format
Plenary addresses and policy dialogues; moderated panels pairing decision-makers with practitioners; closed-door roundtables on specific reform questions; a startup pitch and demonstration floor; scientific paper and poster sessions; and hands-on clinical workshops. The Summit is structured to produce outputs — position papers, model protocols, and partnership commitments — rather than only conversation.

The intent
To move from fragmented effort to a shared agenda: a coalition of government, providers, industry, innovators, and civil society working toward measurable reductions in trauma mortality and disability in India.
