What happens in the workshop?

Each workshop explores a central theme through creative prompts, movement, discussion, collaboration, and reflection. Rather than following a fixed lesson plan, the experience evolves through the interests, discoveries, and relationships that emerge within the group.

What makes this different?

Rather than teaching steps, poses, choreography or working toward predetermined artistic
outcomes, the workshops cultivate curiosity, attention, relationship, and collective discovery. The emphasis is on attention and exploration rather than achievement.

What if I have physical limitations?

Everyone is welcome. There is no expectation that participants move or contribute in the same
way. Every body, ability, experience, and perspective enriches the workshops.

Who facilitates the workshops?

Carissa Zalabany is a corporeal artist, somatic facilitator, and educator with an interdisciplinary background spanning movement, theatre, yoga, education, and participatory arts. She guides inquiry through prompts, questions, and shared exploration while also participating alongside the group.

I’m not creative. Is this for me?

Accepted Answer

What Moves Us begins from the belief that creativity is a
fundamentally human capacity rather than a specialized artistic skill. There are no right answers,
no artistic standards to meet, and no expectation that you already know how to create.
Curiosity—not experience—is the only prerequisite.

Will I perform?

Accepted Answer

The fifth and final workshop is an open session where the public is invited to observe the creative process. Rather than presenting a traditional stage performance, participants share aspects of their ongoing exploration.  The emphasis is on sharing process rather than presenting a polished product.

Is the venue wheelchair-accessible?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The workshop space is wheelchair accessible, and participants using mobility devices are warmly welcomed.
