Monkey Loft

Seattle, we’ve been waiting for this one. On Friday, September 11th, Global Bounce Presents welcomes DJ LAG to Monkey Loft for a special edition of When We Dance.Straight out of Durban, South Africa, DJ Lag is one of the pioneers who helped take Gqom from the dance floors of his hometown to the rest of the world. And now we get to experience it in Seattle.Gqom. 3-Step. Heavy drums. Bass. African electronic dance music. If you’ve been to When We Dance before, you already know this is exactly why we created this party. To make room for these sounds. To go beyond what we already know. To hear music from across the continent and diaspora the way it’s supposed to be heard: LOUD and on a dance floor.
DJ LAG 🇿🇦
DJ Lag’s sound is raw, percussive and made to move bodies. From Durban to dance floors around the world, he has played a huge role in introducing Gqom to a global audience while continuing to push the sound forward.Whether you know every DJ Lag record or you're just curious about what Gqom sounds like on a proper system, you’re welcome here.Just come ready to dance.

When We Dance is our love letter to African electronic dance music.Throughout the night, expect the sounds to move through Gqom, 3-Step, Afro House, Amapiano, Afro Tech, Kuduro, Batida and whatever else feels right in the room.No need to know every song.No need to know every genre.Come curious.Leave sweaty. 😮‍💨
