Articulated “Tabletop” puppets reveal narrative through precise physicality. The audience “intuits” what the puppet is thinking and feeling by watching what the puppet looks at and how it responds to stimuli. The same is true for actors and audiences. When you step onstage as a performer, every move you make is either contributing to the story of the play, or detracting from it. In studying the clear, intentional movement of tabletop puppetry, you can transfer tabletop puppetry technique to your own physical performance.
Taught by Caroline Reck with Marina DeYoe-Pedraza, this lesson uses techniques developed by Glass Half Full Theatre (Austin, TX) that were informed by the movement technique of Jacques Lecoq, Rudolf Laban, and the puppetry technique of Sandglass Theater.
