Women Over Dinner • New Orleans Nov 13

Overview

Join us for an incredible evening • Women Over Dinner New Orleans

The Ladies of Hope Ministry is hosting a dinner in Marrero on Friday, November 13, in partnership with Women Over Dinner.

Women Over Dinner is an invitation for women to gather and connect over a series of thought-provoking, intimate questions and delicious, nourishing food.

The night is for the women we house and serve in New Orleans. Women who have come home from prison. Women who have fled domestic violence. Women rebuilding after homelessness. They will be honored, they will be in community with each other, and those who want to speak will have the room to do it.

We are also opening the doors. New Orleans should know what The LOHM runs in this city, who it serves, and how to be part of it.

About Women Over Dinner

Women Over Dinner brings women to one table and guides the conversation with a few prepared questions. Everyone eats the same meal. Nobody gets talked over or interrupted. No panel, no slideshow, no program to sit through.

About the work in New Orleans

Hope House NOLA opened in April 2020. It is a five-bedroom home for women and girls impacted by incarceration. House Guests get a room, a kitchen they cook in together, and a case manager who helps them get an ID and a Social Security card, apply for public assistance, find work, and go back to school. The goal is permanent housing of their own within a year, and the door stays open after they leave. The model was built alongside women who have been incarcerated, not designed for them.

Rapid Rehousing and Hope House NOLA serves more than 70 people a year across New Orleans who are fleeing domestic violence or facing homelessness. Referrals come through UNITY of Greater New Orleans' Coordinated Entry System. We help people find housing, and we stay with them through case management and support with benefits, employment, and education.

Who this night is for

The women we serve. Alumnae. Neighbors from the West Bank. Pastors, chapter sisters, business owners. Anyone in New Orleans who cares about housing, reentry, or domestic violence and wants to see the work up close.
