Dharma and Recovery Weekend Retreat with Kevin Griffin, October 16-18
This weekend of teachings, we will explore mindfulness and loving kindness meditation and look at key Buddhist and recovery teachings.
Friday Night Public Talk
“What Is Buddhist Recovery?”
In this evening's talk, Kevin will explore how the Dharma can offer powerful support to those recovering from any form of addiction. Topics will include mindfulness, the Twelve Steps, the “God problem,” and more. The evening will begin with a guided meditation.
Saturday and Sunday
“Dharma and Recovery Weekend”
During this weekend of teachings and practice, we’ll explore mindfulness and loving-kindness meditation alongside key Buddhist and recovery principles.
We’ll begin by examining the connections between the Twelve Steps and the Dharma. We’ll consider how deepening our meditation practice can help heal underlying emotional wounds, and we’ll explore the joy found in both recovery and the Dharma.
Finally, we’ll investigate the Buddha’s teachings on compassion and loving-kindness—for ourselves and for others. Early Buddhist teachings known as “suttas” will help guide and support our time together.
