Nourishing Yourself Through Grief

Nourishing Yourself Through Grief

Overview

Explore how grief affects your body and discover compassionate, practical nutrition strategies to nourish yourself through difficult days.

Nourishing Yourself Through Grief is a compassionate, practical workshop exploring how grief affects the body, mind, and daily ability to care for ourselves. Led collaboratively by Grief Coach and Educator Julie Foster and Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist Royletta Romain, the workshop combines grief education with realistic nutrition strategies for navigating difficult days. Participants learn how the stress response can affect sleep, appetite, digestion, energy, concentration, and cravings, while discovering simple ways nourishment can support emotional and physical resilience. Through reflection, discussion, and hands-on activities, participants create a grief-friendly plate and develop an “Emergency Nourishment Plan” with accessible foods, hydration strategies, and sources of support. The workshop emphasizes self-compassion rather than perfection, helping participants release shame and meet themselves where they are. Participants leave with practical tools, greater understanding, and permission to care for themselves gently during grief.
