In an increasingly digital world, older adults are targeted by sophisticated scams. Learn how to recognize and navigate them at Scam Jam!
Please join us for Scam Jam 2026 on September 23, 2026 from 9:00 am to 3:15 pm at the Athens Community Council on Aging (135 Hoyt St)!
Scams are becoming more sophisticated every day, and older adults are often among their biggest targets. From AI and deepfakes to predatory lending, banking and mortgage fraud, it can be difficult to know what’s real, who to trust, and how to protect yourself.
Scam Jam 2026 brings together experts in fraud prevention, financial security, technology, and consumer protection to help you stay informed and one step ahead.
Throughout the day, you’ll learn about AI, deepfake and technology scams; predatory lending; banking and mortgage scams; and more. Our speakers will break down how these scams work, the red flags to watch for, and practical steps you can take to protect your personal information and finances.
You’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions, connect with local experts and community partners, and leave with resources you can use long after Scam Jam is over.
Come ready to learn, ask questions, and become a more confident scam spotter!
