Climate Resilient Landscape Practices for Construction - CEC.03373

Extreme weather is changing the demands placed on residential sites, and yesterday’s best practices may not be enough for tomorrow’s conditions. This course explores how flooding, erosion, slope instability, and increasingly intense weather can affect homes and properties in Western North Carolina. Participants will learn practical, field-tested approaches to identifying site vulnerabilities and making smarter landscape and site-design decisions that reduce risk, protect the home, and create properties better prepared for a changing climate.

Instructor: Jennifer Verprauskus, Licensed Landscape Architect, Master Gardener, Master Composter, and Permaculture Design Certificate holder.

Jennifer Verprauskus is a licensed landscape architect in North and South Carolina and holds credentials as a Master Gardener, Master Composter, and Permaculture Design Certificate holder. Based in Asheville, she works with homeowners and contractors to create beautiful, intentional landscapes that balance aesthetics, function, and environmental responsibility. Jennifer is also an experienced educator, teaching at the North Carolina Arboretum and for Green Built Alliance, as well as at conferences and lectures across the country. Her work has been featured on the Emmy-nominated series This Old House and published in Landscape Architecture Magazine.
