2026 Kingman Island Friends and Family Day

Join the Department of Energy and Environment and partners for the 6th Annual Kingman Island Friends and Family Day on Saturday, October 17 from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM.

This all ages event is a celebration of everything the Islands have to offer as a unique space in the District dedicated to conservation, environmental education, and recreation.

Activities will include paddling, motorized boat tours, guided nature walks, nature-forward and sustainable arts and crafts, a clothing swap, and more.

This year's partners include Anacostia Riverkeeper, Anacostia Watershed Society, Casey Trees, District Departmen of Transportation, Earth Conservation Corps, Friends of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, Living Classrooms of the National Capital Region, and Urban Adventure Squad.

This event is rain or shine, though we will cancel if thunderstorms and lightning are likely.
