Honor Flight Greeter FAQs

  • What time should greeters arrive at DCA?
Greeters must arrive at DCA no later than 7:45 a.m. This allows time for parking, walking to the meeting point, and passing through security.
  • Where will the Clemson Club group meet?
The group will meet in front of The Café at DCA North, just outside the North Security Checkpoint.
  • Does everyone need to pre-register?
Yes. All attendees—including minors and babies—must register with the Clemson Club to receive a Gate Access Pass. The name you register with MUST match the name on your Government issued ID.
  • Do I need identification?
Greeters age 18 and older must present a REAL ID to pass through security with their Gate Access Pass.
  • What is the deadline to register for a Gate Access Pass?
The last day to register is Sunday, September 13. The Clemson Club will then submit a list of all registrants to Honor Flight to receive Gate Access Passes
  • Do I need to register for a Gate Access Pass through the Honor Flight website?
No. You do not need to separately register for a Gate Access Pass on the Honor Flight website.
  • Can I still participate if I miss the 48-hour registration deadline?
Yes, but you will not be able to join the group beyond security. You may greet the Veterans outside the security area, but this will not be a coordinated part of the Clemson Club’s participation.
  • Do normal TSA rules apply?
Yes. Greeters must follow standard TSA security regulations when passing through the checkpoint.
  • Can I bring flags, signs, Tiger Rags, or other festive items?
Yes! Flags, Tiger Rags, banners, signs, and other festive items are encouraged, provided they meet TSA security requirements.
  • Can I use CLEAR?
Yes. CLEAR members may use the CLEAR lanes to pass through TSA with their Gate Access Pass.
  • What will greeters be doing?
The primary role is simple but meaningful: meet, greet, and thank our Veterans as they arrive.
  • How much time should I plan to spend at the airport?
The total time commitment can vary, but greeters should plan for approximately 3–4 hours.
  • What should I wear?
Greeters are encouraged to wear patriotic clothing and bring plenty of Clemson spirit.
  • What should I bring?
Bring banners, flags, Tiger Rags, signs, and lots of smiles to help give our Veterans a warm and enthusiastic welcome!
