Explore the movement practice behind BUTOH FAMILIA. Led by Katherine Adamenko. No dance experience needed.
This introductory workshop, led by butoh dancer and performance artist Katherine Adamenko, offers a hands-on exploration of butoh, an avant-garde form of Japanese dance that uses imagery, memory, and deep physical states as the basis for movement.
Through guided exercises, participants will experience some core butoh approaches to movement, presence, transformation, and physical imagination. The workshop also offers a window into the movement practice behind BUTOH FAMILIA: Waves of the Sea, a performance project exploring ancestry, spiritual inheritance, and memory through the body.
Reserve a free seat for the performance on Sunday, November 15, HERE.
No dance experience is required. The workshop is designed for anyone curious about butoh, movement, performance, or embodied creative practice.
Free community workshop.
