Pull out your 1920s/1930s best and cut a rug at our Harlem Renaissance Rent Party!
Rent parties were a staple during the Harlem Renaissance as it also coincided with tough economic times in the US. People would open their homes to the neighborhood while playing the latest and greatest music. Some would sell plates and they may have also had some hooch flowing - in the service of having a good time - and making that week’s or month’s rent.
Come out! Have small bites and maybe some hooch of your own and help us raise money for the museum!
