8, 9, 10 of Coins: Slow Living in the Automation Age

We're doing some minors for the first time!

The Coins or Pentacles suits most immediately relate to work, money, purpose, and material stability. These cards are associated with Sun, Venus, and Mercury in Virgo, respectively. As Mutable Earth, Virgo and the 6th House can speak to our health, daily habits, discernment, and how we relate to our material reality. But depending on the context of a reading, they can also speak to something deeper.

The Eight of Pentacles depicts the artisan at work on their craft. Coins and the earth signs relate to diligence, perseverance, and slow but steady progress. While they certainly represent literal money, they also speak to value- how we relate to and treat the things we value, as well as how we value ourselves.

The refinement of the artisan's skills at their craft parallels the refinement of oneself; the Virgo card of the Major Arcana is The Hermit (the subject of our very first salon!). One could imagine that the man in the Ten of Pentacles in the RWS is The Hermit returned from his wandering. The garden in which he resides may be one built on literal wealth and legacy; but it can also be the inner wealth and beauty accrued from a lifetime of devotion to Spirit.

Please bring a deck if you have one- there will be a few extra on hand though if you need it. All levels welcome!
