After Dark on the Page is an intimate, beginner-friendly romance writing workshop designed to help you write scenes with stronger chemistry, emotional tension, memorable characters, and authentic romantic connection.

Whether you're working on your first story, drafting a romance novel, experimenting with romantasy, or simply curious about writing more compelling romantic scenes, you'll be guided through practical techniques you can immediately put on the page.

This isn't a lecture.

You'll write.

You'll experiment.

And if you'd like, you'll have the opportunity to share a short piece with the room and receive supportive feedback.

What we'll explore

During the workshop, we'll look at:

Building believable chemistry between characters

Creating romantic and emotional tension

The difference between attraction, tension, and intimacy

Using dialogue, pacing, and body language effectively

Writing intimate scenes without making them feel mechanical

Developing character motivation and emotional stakes

Adjusting scenes for contemporary romance, romantasy, paranormal romance, and other subgenres

Editing scenes that feel awkward, rushed, or over-written

Short guided writing exercises will be included throughout the afternoon.
