Roar Shack Live!: BODYSONNET x The Living Earth Show: Classic

Classic brings music, movement, and the personal histories of the performers into playful conversation, using the idea of “canon” as a lens through which artists explore the traditions, influences, and knowledge that shape their practice. Through rigorously structured improvisational scores and curated musical remixes, the work creates a dynamic space for virtuosity, individuality, irony, and surprise to emerge. Rather than presenting fixed choreography, Classic highlights the dancers’ extraordinary skills, instincts, and wealth of knowledge, revealing each artist as both interpreter and author.

BODYSONNET (2019) is a New York-based company committed to site-responsive work. Led by Co-Founders Moscelyne ParkeHarrison (AD) and Mio Ishikawa (AAD), BODYSONNET initiates projects that center dance to yield highly physical works unique to the communities with which we engage. Our work demonstrates the intersection of movement with many mediums through collaboration with local artists and institutions. We redefine the viewer’s experience by developing innovative work that reinforces our shared humanity.

BODYSONNET has presented more than 25 original works for site-specific locations, film, and fixed mediums in The Berkshires (MA), Cologne (Germany), The Hudson Valley, NYC, San Francisco, Northwest Arkansas, and online.
