Education Studios Open House

Come tour the new Que Throm and Cicero Greathouse Education Studios, celebrate this historical milestone, and discover what’s possible when a community comes together to support the arts.

The dedication marks the realization of an 11-year vision that began in 2015, when a campus master plan called for expanding into a 1.2-acre parcel on the north and west sides of the property. Historically part of Smith's original Art Center campus and home to his orange grove, the land was returned to the museum's lease by the City of Maitland, creating the opportunity for the first physical expansion of the campus in nearly a century.

Made possible through the transformational generosity of the Estate of Que Throm & Cicero Greathouse, grant funding from Orange County Cultural Facilities, and years of capital investment by A&H, the new Education Studios honor the legacy of both the campus's founder and the donors whose vision made its future possible.

Designed by architect Mark Straite, the two-building complex draws inspiration from the Art Center's iconic Mayan Revival architecture while establishing a contemporary educational environment. The facilities include a dedicated ceramics studio, three classrooms, and a gallery featuring the artwork of Que Throm and Cicero Greathouse alongside works by A&H students and instructors.
