Aperitivo Italiano, Wine Tasting: I Carpini - Colli Tortonesi
Join us for a guided tasting and explore I Carpini and the distinctive wines of Colli Tortonesi in Piedmont, Italy.
This special Aperitivo Italiano features four distinctive wines-Rugiada del Mattino, Sette Zolle, Bruma d’Autunno, and Terre d’Ombra-offering guests a journey through the native grape varieties, terroir, and winemaking traditions of this fascinating corner of Piedmont.
Meet I Carpini
Founded in 1998, I Carpini was born from a family’s desire to reconnect with the land and create wines that authentically express their environment. The winery embraces a holistic approach to viticulture, emphasizing biodiversity, organic practices, patience, and respect for nature.
Located in the Colli Tortonesi, where Piedmont meets neighboring regions, I Carpini focuses on native varieties including Timorasso, Barbera, and Albarossa. The area’s distinctive calcareous and clay-rich soils contribute to wines with freshness, minerality, structure, and character.
Together, these four wines offer an introduction to the diversity and personality of the Colli Tortonesi.

Meet the Presenter
Pierina Bianchini began her journey in the wine industry in 1998, working in the U.S. market and gaining experience across all levels of the three-tier system. Her passion for wine grew through her travels around the world, leading her to create Emotion for Passion in 2014, a venture dedicated to sharing the stories and traditions behind wine.
Today, Pierina works with wineries from around the world, educating others about wine and exploring the connection between soil, grapes, and winemaking.
She previously joined us at the ICCC for A Tale of Two Territories: Emilia-Romagna & Umbria, and we are delighted to welcome her back for this special Aperitivo Italiano.
What does aperitivo italiano really mean?
An aperitivo is more than an Italian version of happy hour; actually, it is a cherished Italian ritual that brings people together over wine, conversation, and small bites before the evening begins.
