Women, Systems, and Power: The Carceral System

Join us for Women, Systems, and Power: The Carceral System. The Mary Amelia Center for Women’s Health Equity Research is hosting a four-part series exploring women - their health, lives, and communities – as shaped by the carceral system. Through incarceration, child protective services, policing, surveillance, the carceral system shapes health. In this series, system impacted women, community leaders, advocates, researchers, artists, and practitioners will unpack how the carceral system impacts women.

The goal of the event is to identify the gendered issues impacting folks who are incarcerated across the Southern US. In addition, we aim to engage the audience in local efforts – service and advocacy – to address these harms and support formerly incarcerated individuals and partnered organizations. Speakers included community-based organizations and systems-impacted women.
