Beethoven 200 – The Eternal Journey I

NYCP’s Beethoven 200 chamber series opens with a journey through the composer’s evolving voice. Two early quartets, the elegant Op. 18 No. 2 and the Mozart-inflected Op. 18 No. 5, lead to the heroic brilliance of the 3rd Razumovsky Quartet with its exhilarating fugal finale. The evening closes with Op. 132, one of Beethoven’s most intimate late works, centered on the transcendent “Holy Song of Thanksgiving.”
