Owen Leeuwis Quartet

Jamme K. Chantler is the proprietor of Thelonious Monkfish and long-time lover of vocal and instrumental jazz. His aim is to bring the best jazz talent possible to his venue The Jazz Baroness Room without added cost to diners. In addition, he and his bookings director, Scott Goulding–one third of the Yoko Miwa Trio–are dedicated to musical education and work in conjunction with The Cambridge Jazz Festival and Harvard's Kuumba Singers' director Sheldon Reid to achieve that end.

Deeply influenced by the sound and fire of legends like Johnny Griffin, Dexter Gordon, and Harold Land, Owen has developed a voice that is both rooted in tradition and unmistakably his own. Currently honing his craft at Berklee College of Music under the guidance of Dino Govoni and Jeff Harrington, he has also drawn inspiration from his studies with Boston-area stalwarts Bill Jones, Philippe Crettien, and Clayton DeWalt.With a rich, expressive sound and a relentless drive to push himself musically, Owen brings a fresh perspective to the Boston jazz scene. Surrounded by a band of talented young musicians, Owen brings new life to old standards while also bringing his own unique touch to modern music.
