Crowded lines, tepid drinking fountain water, egregious costs for overcooked French fries which the birds will inevitably eat most of. A displaced hat, a couple arguing about god knows what. And the roaring—the roaring of the coaster cars reaching 60… 70… 80 miles per hour on a wooden track. And the screaming. Human beings producing deafening sounds from joyous laughter and overwhelming fear, all for risks well worth the reward.At once both overwhelming and calming, communal and individual, this is Funland. The gates are open. Are you ready to take the ride?A DAY IN FUNLAND is a new musical song cycle exploring personal stride amidst the masses, reminding us that while everyone on the midway is carrying their own unseen weight, we’re all riding under the same sky. Told through a series of distinct human portraits, Funland reminds us that no matter who or where we are, we all the share the moon.<h4>ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:</h4>This performance is a culmination of a workshop—a process where the script, music, and lyrics are constantly changing and being adjusted. It is vital to the development of a musical.The audience of this production is not only welcomed, but encouraged to critique the show, give suggestions, jot down notes, ask questions, etc. It is practically the most important part of this whole process.
