Overview

Mendelssohn & R. Strauss (Brooklyn)

Mendelssohn & R. Strauss: A Journey to Playfulness

NYCP opens its 2026–27 season with wit, brilliance, and mischievous joy. The program moves from Cole Reyes’s world premiere Circular Reasoning and Mendelssohn’s youthful Violin Concerto in D minor to Barber’s vivid Capricorn Concerto and Texu Kim’s new arrangement of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. The evening concludes with Reyes’s chamber orchestra arrangement of Strauss’s Till Eulenspiegel, bringing the work’s satirical pranks into vivid, intimate focus.
