Beezer Until Now: The Journey. Launch Party Ashton Court Mansion
A retrospective of Beezer's life's work. Open to the Public: August 27th to September 10th LAUNCH PARTY: Thursday 3rd September 18.30 -23.45
From Thursday August 27th until September 10th, Ashton Court Mansion is hosting a Retrospective of the life’s work of Bristol born photographer Beezer, “Until Now: The Journey”.
After showing at The Farsight Gallery in London Tottenham Court Road, and the currently running Exhibition “ The Music is Black” at The V&A East, Beezer returns to Bristol where it all started, kicking off his career as a photographer in the early 80s.
Taking over three rooms of the Mansion’s ground floor, the two Lounges, the Music Room but also the Great Hall, the exhibition covers iconic shots taken during gigs, club nights, political demonstrations, alongside more candid stills of everyday people going about their life: an amalgamation of significant moments in time from different societal spheres, blended together through Beezer’s lens, bearing witness to our Cultural History.
As Beezer continues his journey, relentlessly capturing the extraordinary in the mundane, new images will be on show for the first time, gracing the walls of this Grade I listed building, a most important cultural landmark in its own right.
Two worlds colliding. Come together on the evening of Thursday 3rd of September, from 6.30pm onwards, for a celebration of Beezer’s body of work, but also of the Bristol Community of DJs, Streetwear and Vinyl Records Boutiques Owners, and Soul Food Providers, to make it a memorable night for us all.
Beezer Until Now, Volume 1, A Life in Photos: 1982-1986, in the shape of two books released through PC Press, the Bristol DIY Publishing House, will be available to acquire on the night, including signed copies, as well as other mementos of the event.
A special mention to Michele Midwinter and Lottie Kennedy of the Ashton Court Mansion Events for their constant support of our work and by making, with this exhibition at Ashton Court Mansion, a reality of a dream. Also, without the vision Norman Routledge had for Ashton Court Mansion, none of this would have been possible. This is also, in a way, his legacy.
