JCPL welcomes New York Times bestselling author of "The Facemaker" to Authors at JCPL!

Register with your JCPL card by November 12. 100 ticket holders will be upgraded to include a copy of her new book "Sleuth-Hound".

Anyone may attend this event, but you must register with your JCPL card to be eligible for a ticket upgrade that includes the book.

Books will be for sale that evening through Morgenstern Books.


About the Author

Dr. Lindsey Fitzharris is a New York Times bestselling author, television host, and medical historian with a PhD from the University of Oxford. A regular contributor to The Wall Street Journal, Scientific American, The Guardian, The Lancet, and New Scientist, she is known for bringing the grisly, surprising, and deeply human history of medicine to life.

Her debut book, The Butchering Art (2017), a celebrated account of Victorian surgery, won multiple literary awards, earned international acclaim, and has been translated into 20 languages. In 2021, she hosted the Smithsonian Channel series The Curious Life and Death of…, exploring some of history’s most mysterious deaths.

Her follow-up book, The Facemaker (2022), about pioneering First World War surgeon Harold Gillies, was an instant New York Times bestseller.

Áine Cain is a journalist who previously worked as a senior reporter for Insider, where her beat included business-related crimes. Cain is from New York’s Westchester County and studied history at the College of William & Mary. She and her husband, Kevin Greenlee founded The Murder Sheet, an investigative true crime podcast, which has repeatedly broke national news in a series of dramatic reports on the Delphi case. They're the authors of Shadow of the Bridge:The Delphi Murders and the Dark Side of the American Heartland, which was nominated for an Indiana Authors Award.
