Beginner Tufting - Tuft a Wall Hanging

You’ve heard about tufting already, but have you tried it? Come on over and join us to learn all the basics of tufting! In this tufting class in Seattle you can learn to create a custom tufted wall hanging.

We’ll have frames, fabric, yarn and tufting guns for you – all you need to bring is the willingness to learn and have fun and an idea for the design you'd like to tuft.

In this class, you will focus on getting comfortable with a tufting gun and the movement. We will use acrylic yarn so the piece you make will be best hung on a wall. If you’d like to use it in low traffic area as a rug that is possible as well. You will be using a frame that is approximately 30x30 inches. We will have yarn available for you - but if you would like to use something specific, you are welcome to bring size four acrylic yarn.

Instructions on how to finish the back of your piece will be provided at the end of the class and you can finish it on your own time or you can finish it in our space and come back to pick it up after the glue dries - whichever works best for you.

Depending on the size of the piece you create, you may or may not complete your rug during this class. All class attendees also receive a coupon for 100% off a ticket to our monthly open tufting studio session. That's three additional hours of tufting that you can use to either finish your project from class - or start something new. We're concerned about your little hands and how they'll react to you gripping a power tool for multiple hours in a row. It's best to split up large projects to prevent injuries.

Please note:If you cannot attend class for any reason up to 48 hours before the class, an exchange to another Ugly Baby workshop will be offered. After that time, no refunds or exchanges are issued out of respect for the teachers who purchase and prepare supplies based on the number of attendees.

Our current Covid protocol is that anyone attending an event can email us to let us know they prefer that people wear masks up to 72 hours before the event begins. Your request is anonymous to all the other participants.
