🌿 What is a Supra?
A Supra is a centuries-old tradition from the country of Georgia that beautifully blends Orthodox theology, hospitality, storytelling, music, and joyful celebration. It's far more than a dinner; it's a rich spiritual and cultural experience, centered around a series of guided toasts that reflect on faith, family, friendship, and our life in Christ.
After a wonderful first Supra, we're thrilled to bring this tradition back to our parish community! This year's Supra is also a chance to come together as a parish family, an evening built around connection, deepening relationships, and getting to know one another, whether for the first time or through strengthening the bonds that already exist.
🤍 Why the Start of the Church Year?
September marks the beginning of the Liturgical Calendar, a fitting time to gather as a community and celebrate the start of a new Church year with fellowship, music, and heartfelt reflection.
🥂 Led by a Professional Tamada
This year we're honored to welcome Peter Savas as our Tamada. Peter serves as the Ministry Support Coordinator for the Chicagoland region with Orthodox Youth & Young Adult Ministries (OYM), based out of Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church in Westchester, IL. Known as a natural relationship-builder, Peter's ministry centers on walking alongside clergy, families, and parish leaders to help foster genuine, Christ-centered community, making him a wonderful fit to guide us through an evening of toasts & Georgian tradition.
