🧠 Lecture: "Why We Lose Our Cool (and How to Regain Composure)"
🎤 Speaker: Dr. Jake Tuber
We all have moments when emotion overrides judgment—when we get triggered, reactive, or overwhelmed, even if we’re usually calm and capable. Join us for an engaging evening with Dr. Jake Tuber as he unpacks what’s actually happening in the brain during these “emotional hijacks,” and why even thoughtful people can suddenly lose their cool.
Drawing on neuroscience, sport psychology, and lessons from high-performance environments, Dr. Tuber will share practical, evidence-based tactics to help you stay centered under pressure. You’ll learn concrete techniques to maintain focus, regulate strong emotions, and quickly regain control when composure starts to slip—at work, at home, or in high-stakes situations.
Dr. Jake Tuber is an organizational psychologist and top-rated adjunct professor of industrial-organizational psychology at City College. As Managing Principal of Ticonderoga Advisory, he works with leaders and organizations as an executive coach, talent advisor, and workshop facilitator. He was named one of the “40 Under 40 in Leadership” by the Leadership Center for Excellence. His upcoming book, "The Deliberate Manager: The eight postures that make management conversations work (and how to choose the right one every time)", is available for pre-order.
