José López: Schubert, Liszt & the Romantic Piano

Pianist José López, Professor and Coordinator of the Piano Program at FIU, brings together four distinctive voices of the Romantic era in a program of rich contrasts. Schubert’s Sonata in A minor, D. 537, and selections from Liszt’s late piano works are presented alongside music by Charles-Valentin Alkan and Ferdinand Hiller’s Piano Sonata No. 2 in A-flat major, Op. 59. The program pairs celebrated composers with less familiar works, offering audiences a fresh perspective on the nineteenth-century piano repertoire.

The program features Franz Schubert's Sonata in A minor (D. 537), a work by C.V. Alkan, Liszt's late piano works, and Ferdinand Hiller's Sonata Op. 59.
