Touch Grass Day-Tripper: Wild Creatives (Still Lifedrawing)

Explore, create, and connect in nature's boundless playground. Our curated day events are designed to immerse you in the beauty of nature while igniting your creative spark.

Fruits and florals; drawing more than what you see. This drawing workshop blends nature observational drawing with imaginative worldbuilding. We will embark on a little journey of learning the fundamentals of impressionist art making to collaboratively build an imaginary natural world inspired by real flowers and fruit.

Expect to feel fully engaged and immersed in your creative practice, your relationship to the natural world, and your imagination. All materials provided but you are welcome to bring your own sketchbook and/or tools.

This will be an unplugged workshop. We will put away our phones so we can be fully present and relaxed while we playfully create together. Expect to bring home a colourful piece or two for your wall.

This workshop will be facilitated by Fay. Fay (she/he/they) is an Irish/Afro-Moroccan multidisciplinary artist who has worked as a character animator for TV and a tutor for drawing and animation, as well as a life drawing teacher and model. She facilitates creative workshops with a focus on connecting with one’s inner child through playful art making. Outside of that they love nature and hiking.

Accessibility

The nearest station is North Greenwich which has step free access. From there to the venue there's one set of steps in the street but there is a ramp option. The ground floor is accessible and has 1 accessible toilet with wheelchair space.

There are 2 steps down to the room we will be using. There is a foldout ramp available which has a 77cm clearance at the bottom of it to navigate the stone firepit in the room. The room we will be using has plenty of soft furnishings and seating.

Touch Grass is an outdoor community for queer women, trans and non-binary people of colour.

We are committed to fostering community growth through outdoor gatherings and wellness-focused trips that encourage us to rekindle our relationship with nature. Our immersive experiences go beyond relaxation — they're about empowerment, healing, and forging meaningful connections.

Our vision is for queer people of colour to see the outdoors as a space where we belong. A 2020 report by Friends of the Earth found that nearly 40% of people from minority ethnic backgrounds in England live in the most green space-deprived neighbourhoods, compared with only 14% of white people — and that people from minority ethnic backgrounds are significantly less likely to spend time in the countryside than white people. We want to change this. We deserve joyful, safe access to the emotional well-being and physical health benefits of nature too.

We believe creativity and nature go hand in hand, which is why most of our events encourage you to embrace nature and your inner creative spirit.
