The Underground Railroad Experience at Spring Hill
Experience the power of Black History and Culture at Spring Hill Historic Home and Underground Railroad Site.
The Underground Railroad Experience is an annual event that engages surrounding communities in learning about Massillon’s African American and Underground Railroad history during the early 1820s.
Our history comes to life with 4 performances of the award-winning and interactive play, One Stop on the Road to Freedom, inspired by local historical figures and freedom seeker narratives. An accessibility performance at 12:45 pm will be seated and enjoyed from the porch of Spring Hill. New this year will be reflection sessions with song and dance, soul food, a Frederick Douglass interpreter, as well as open discussions about the history and culture showcased throughout the day. Attendees can take an open-house style tour of the 1821 farmhouse and participate in various activities around the grounds.
Tickets are sold by performance times. Admission for adults is $15, youth (6-17) are $10, and children 5 and under are free! We hope you will join us in celebrating this very special event!
