Welcome parents & community partners. Resilient Roots is a culturally responsive DBT skills program for African American youth.
Resilient Roots is a culturally responsive, community-based DBT program that helps African American children ages 7–13 and their families develop emotional regulation, coping, and resilience skills through comprehensive evidence-based treatment. Resilient Roots is built on the research-supported DBT Children's model but delivered in a culturally responsive way for African American families.
We will be partnering with schools, churches, medical providers, and community organizations to increase access to care and reduce stigma. We will be providing 12 weeks of DBT sessions in the community to African American families for free regardless of insurance to reduce barriers and increase access to services. Dinner is also provided for families during each session at no cost. This is made possible due to a grant which acknowledges the need for mental health resources in the Kent County community.
We are offering you a FREE 1-hour virtual lunch and learn informational session in hopes that you can share our mission to "to reduce suicide rates, break down barriers to care, and foster a legacy of strength, healing, and thriving within African American families and communities". In the free virtual informational session, we will discuss Resilient Roots along with additional DBT children and individual services that are available at Adolescent Family Behavioral Health Services. Our commitment is to provide a compassionate and empowering environment where ALL individuals are seen, heard, and valued.
