Yule, the Winter Solstice, is the longest night and the rebirth of the Sun — a celebration of hope, renewal, and the quiet magic of deep stillness. In Wiccan tradition, this sacred turning of the Wheel honors the moment when darkness reaches its peak, and then yields once more to the returning light.

The Goddess, in her aspect as the Great Mother, gives birth to the Sun God, bringing new light into the world. Though the earth still sleeps, this spark of light promises the eventual return of warmth, growth, and life. Fires are kindled, candles lit, evergreens brought indoors — symbols of endurance, protection, and eternal life.

Yule invites us into a sacred pause, a moment to honor the mystery of regeneration, to rest, dream, and reconnect with what is most essential. It is a time for introspection, sacred storytelling, and joyful gathering, where we align with the ancient rhythms of the land and celebrate the light within ourselves and our communities.

Doors open at 19:30. The talk-through begins around 20:00 and the ritual follows shortly after. We are usually finished between 21:30 and 22:00, with time afterwards to stay and talk — there is a bar on site.

You do not need to have done anything like this before. Everything is explained beforehand — what will happen, what it means, what your part is, and what to do if you would rather simply stand and watch. Newcomers are guided through the ritual as it unfolds. Whether you have practised for years or have never set foot in a ritual, you are welcome.

Street clothes are perfectly fine. If you have ritual dress and would like to wear it, please do. The evening is held in English.
