Get ready for a very special night of Jamaican roots reggae, culture, live music and positive vibrations as CHALICE and PREZIDENT BROWN come together at the legendary Ashkenaz Music & Dance Community Center in Berkeley.

This expanded Legends of Reggae lineup brings together two generations of authentic Jamaican reggae, joined by Bay Area roots-reggae artist Donny Rasta & JAHBUDDA!

For longtime reggae fans, this is an opportunity to experience artists whose music is deeply connected to Jamaica's roots-reggae tradition in the intimate setting of one of the Bay Area's historic live-music venues.

CHALICE

CHALICE is one of Jamaica's enduring reggae bands, emerging during reggae's influential 1980s period and becoming known for strong musicianship, vocal harmonies and memorable songs including “I Still Love You,” “Good To Be There,” “I'm Trying,” “Can't Dub,” and “Dangerous Disturbances.” The band's current music also includes “House of Music,” featuring Prezident Brown, making his appearance on this show an especially natural addition to the evening.

PREZIDENT BROWN

Joining CHALICE for this special Bay Area performance is acclaimed Jamaican roots-reggae artist Prezident Brown.

Born Fitz Albert Cotterell in Jamaica, Prezident Brown developed his distinctive approach to reggae deejaying that he calls the “chanting stylee.” His career traces back to Jamaica's sound-system tradition, and producer Jack Ruby—known for his work with Burning Spear—gave him the name “Prezident.” His career later expanded internationally, including performances at major reggae events such as Reggae On The River and the Sierra Nevada World Music Festival.

Known for conscious lyrics, positive messages and roots-and-culture reggae, Prezident Brown has built an international following while continuing Jamaica's tradition of music designed to entertain, inform and inspire.

DONNY RASTA & JAHBUDDA!

Representing the San Francisco Bay Area will be Donny Rasta & JAHBUDDA!

With more than 30 years of live-performance experience, Donny Rasta brings conscious lyrics, strong vocals, roots riddims and high-energy stage presence to the Reggae Town Music stage.

Together with JAHBUDDA!, Donny continues to represent the Bay Area's roots-reggae community while helping connect established Jamaican artists with a new generation of Northern California reggae audiences.
