Fess & His Sons: The New Orleans Good Time Piano Show

Get ready to shake your tail feather during an evening of music made famous by the New Orleans piano professors of the R&B era, starting with Professor Longhair, whose Caribbean-tinged rhythmic innovations influenced the generations that have followed, including legendary players like Allen Toussaint, Dr John, and James Booker.

· Rahsaan ‘Wordslave’ Eldridge (vocals & percussion): Singer and co-leader of the band Honest Lee Soul and former member of the Kelly Bell Band, Word is singer-songwriter, poet, emcee, educator, author, three times Maryland Music Award winner, and world traveled performer. He brings an energetic mix of soul and playfulness to every show.

· Jim Orr (piano): A forty-year veteran of the DMV music scene, Jim has played extensively in the Mid-Atlantic region as a member of groups such as The Persuaders (which he founded in 1988), Root Boy Slim, Fat Tuesday, and the Nadine Rae All Stars. He has appeared on stage with Bo Diddley, Buddy Guy, Albert Collins, The Radiators, and The Nighthawks.

· Seth Kibel (woodwinds): One of the Mid-Atlantic’s premier woodwind specialists, this 28-time Wammie-winner is a noted band leader; a featured performer with The Kleztet, Bay Jazz Project, Music Pilgrim Trio, and The Natty Beaux; and has appeared with such notables as Daryl Davis, Sam Moore (Sam & Dave), Percy Sledge, The Coasters, and Johnnie Johnson.

· Dave Chappell (guitar): A winner of 21 Wammie awards, Dave is highly regarded for the huge range of sounds he coaxes out of his trademark Fender Telecaster. Dave has been fortunate enough to play with some of the finest musicians in the country and has been featured on a number of albums as both band-leader and sideman.

· Jeff ‘Papa Lebas’ Muller (bass): A veteran bassist, guitarist, songwriter, and producer who has performed with legendary acts including Allen Toussaint, Cyril Neville, Ernie K-Doe, and Eva Cassidy. Jeff recently released his latest album, Naptown to NOLA, which includes contributions from Ivan Neville, George Porter Jr., Tommy Malone, Bill Summers, Ron Holloway, and many others.

· Matt Tebo (drums): An in-demand drummer in the DMV who has played clubs, festivals, and more working with acts including Mike Mills, the Karl Straub Combo, the Shari Puorto Band, the Kevin Cordt Trio, and the Cyphers Band. No matter what style Matt plays, he elevates the music and, when the music calls for it, fills the dance floor.
