Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Jen Kearney has spent some time seasoning her particular style of original music. Her sound is truly an amalgamation of musical styles including Soul, R&amp;B, Funk, Rock, and Latin. Kearney’s music and attention to lyrics and has met critical acclaim nationally and internationally.Kearney will be celebrating the release of a full-length album called “Gas Station Poet”coming up on October 17th. She has recorded and released six studio albums and an EP. She has done session work on many other projects. Kearney is a 2 time New England Music Award nominee for soul/r&amp;b act of the year.Kearney tours both as a solo act and with a full band. She spent 2018-2020 living in London touring the UK/ Europe with her own act and with a 9-piece Latin band called Snowboy &amp; the Latin Section. HELLBENDER bends jazz until it snaps. Built on the raw electricity of classic fusion records like Bitches Brew, the band channels that brand of chaos through a sharper, more intentional compositional lens. Ambient sounds are juxtaposed with tough drum beats and a ton of mixed meters. There isn’t endless soloing for its own sake—the band has a collective sound that resonates.The players are conservatory-trained musicians who grew up on classic rock riffs as much as real books. The intention is to bring precision in the music without losing the danger. Amplified jazz, electric saxophone with guitar pedals, aggressive grooves, and tightly forged forms collide, blurring the line between headbanging and deep listening.
