Community Archery Experience
Join us for a relaxing afternoon of community, lunch, and archery practice at one of Oakland's most beautiful hidden gems! Whether you are a seasoned archer or trying a bow for the very first time, all skill levels are welcome. This activity will be lead by Thooba Samimi and Chris Abdur Rahman Corrales.
Expect to learn tips and technique from our activity leaders, Thooba Samimi and Br. Abdul Rahman. Beginners can use the provided equipment. If you have your own gear, feel free to bring it!
We will be meeting at the Archery Range in Joaqin Miller Park. Exact Coordinates will be sent closer to the day of the activity.
Pack and bring along your own food and drinks as well as a picnic blanket for comfortable seating on the grass and for prayer.
Activity Leads:
Chris Abdur Rahman Corrales is a Muslim convert, lifelong martial artist, and healer dedicated to reviving traditional Sunnah arts, particularly archery. His mission addresses three vital needs for Western Muslims: sacred knowledge, healing social connections, and spiritual practice. By blending these elements, Chris uses archery as a vehicle to transform sacred knowledge into physical, purposeful action.
Thooba Samimi is a Bay Area native who brings a unique blend of skills to the trail, from grid sustainability to traditional bushcraft, horse-riding and archery. Her passion for geology drives her to understand the landscape, while her years as a youth mentor reflect her commitment to teaching. Guided by her Central Asian nomadic heritage, Thooba draws on deep ancestral roots to connect people and build community.
