52nd Annual Harambee Festival Brings Free, Family-Friendly Trick-or-Treat Alternative and Cultural Celebration to Dallas-Fort Worth

Theme: “Harambee! One People One Purpose”

DALLAS, TX — The Dallas-Fort Worth community is invited to gather for a day of unity, culture, and autumn fun at the 52nd Annual Harambee Festival. Taking place on Saturday, October 31, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center in Dallas, this historic event offers a free, safe, and exciting trick-or-treat alternative for families across the Metroplex.

Rooted in the Swahili concept of "Harambee" meaning "let's pull together”. This year’s theme, "Harambee! One People One Purpose," highlights community strength, cultural diversity, and family engagement.

Presented by the Citizens’ Committee to Save Our Children, Inc. in partnership with the City of Dallas, Dallas Park & Recreation, Children’s Defense Fund of Texas, Radio One and Visit Dallas the festival features an expansive lineup of activities tailored for all ages:

• Watoto Village: Safe, interactive candy and activity stations designed for children and youth.
• Pet Show & Contest: A fun showcase where attendees can enter their furry friends wearing their best fall costumes and talent.
• Live Concerts: Family-friendly music and entertainment featuring a line-up of local and national artists.
• Line Dancing Party: High-energy sessions teaching easy-to-learn steps and popular trends.
• Greek Corner: Highlighting local Divine Nine and collegiate Greek fraternities and sororities from all levels.
• Culture Area: Honoring Dallas' rich diversity through engaging storytelling, fine art, and cultural activities.
• Vendor Marketplace: Supporting small businesses, youth entrepreneurs, local artisans, non-profits, and community social services.
• Food Truck Park: Serving up delicious regional favorites including BBQ, street tacos, sweets, and refreshments.
• Community Voting Booth: Empowering attendees to make their voices heard on local civic matters.

Special Attraction: Festival Adventure Passport & Raffle Prizes

Festivalgoers can participate in the interactive Festival Adventure Passport. Attendees collect stamps by visiting various attractions across the venue to enter to win exclusive raffle prize packages, including a Family Photo Package, a Pet Gift Basket, and a Dallas Fall Fun Prize Pack.
