Mother Tongue: Homecoming

Mother Tongue: Homecoming

Overview

Intimate live music show connecting the sounds of the African mainland and the Caribbean islands.

Join Us for Mother Tongue: Homecoming!

Join us for an intimate evening of incredible live music celebrating sounds from across the African mainland and the Caribbean islands, with artists representing different parts of the Black diaspora — Minsa Moon, Geneivah, Vema, Abuletic King, and Midé Johnson.

Beyond the music, experience art, fashion and culture throughout the space. We’re excited to host Adeyinka Alake’s first solo exhibition, alongside JOLÁ ADÉBÍMÍPÈ, a West African fashion and lifestyle brand celebrating African heritage through contemporary design, and Astro Diversity, an independent fashion label blending African craftsmanship with contemporary British design.

Our first edition is built around one theme: home.

What does home sound like? Maybe it’s the songs your parents played. The hymns you grew up singing. The rhythm that reminds you where you’re from. Or the music that found you along the way.

Come experience it with us in Whitechapel on Friday, 4 September. ❤️
