NVP Tech Interviews - Disney's Newsies JR.
Interview to be a student in NVP's exciting tech program!
Our technical theatre program is set up in two parts. Your student may choose to do Part A, Part B, or both.
Part A is all the preshow building, designing, painting, and prep work necessary to produce a show. It includes instructions on Set, Props, Lighting, Costumes (with Tammy), and Stage Management, as well as shop safety, proper use of tools, and drawing/reading building plans.
Part B is from Load In through Strike. It includes putting the set together, everything that goes along with running the show, and taking the set apart. (Please note: when it comes time to assign show jobs, students who elect to participate in BOTH Part A & B get first dibs on show jobs.)
PART A:
The following tech slots are available each week. Please choose two for your student to attend:
Tuesday 11am-2pm–General tech and work day with Lesya
Wednesday 12-3pm–Set design and general tech/work with Lesya
Wednesday 12-3pm–Costume design and work with Tammy (at IDS)
Friday 12-3pm–Lighting design and general tech/work with Lesya
A schedule will be created for all tech students to rotate through running music at the studio for rehearsals rather than coming to work with Lesya on specific days. There will be one tech student for each Wednesday and Friday, so the number of times each student will run music depends on how many tech students sign up for those days.
PLEASE NOTE: The week of September 28th–October 2nd, the only options for tech are Wednesday 12-3 doing costumes with Tammy OR music in the studio during rehearsal MWF 12-3.
PART B:
All tech students participating in Part B are expected to be at ALL Tech Week rehearsals. The schedule is for your planning only. We will NOT accept forms with Tech Week rehearsals marked off as a conflict. If your family has a Tech Week conflict, it MUST be discussed with the Lesya Yeatman during the interview, or at the first tech meeting.
It is possible that we may have more tech students than we have show jobs with set/props/lights/music. If your student would be interested in working with costumes, hair & makeup, concessions, or box office for one or both weeks, please note that. If your student would like to participate in show jobs for only one week of tech and performances, rather than both, please also note that. PLEASE NOTE: if they want to work only one week, they are still expected to be at ALL tech rehearsals and performances for that week.
You will find the schedule on the forms provided on the confirmation page.
