Overview

Inspired by the Japanese philosophy of kintsugi, this workshop will practice the art of repairing broken pottery with gold.

CLASS DESCRIPTION:

Inspired by the Japanese philosophy of kintsugi, the art of repairing broken pottery with gold, this workshop invites you to reflect on your own story of resilience. Participants will gently break their own ceramic vase and learn how to mend it using kintsugi techniques.

As you restore your piece, you’ll be guided through meaningful reflection, honoring the idea that our cracks and challenges can become part of our greatest beauty and strength.

Thinking of bringing your own ceramic piece?

The ceramic pieces provided in the workshop are intentionally selected and sized specifically for the two-hour workshop experience. Guests are welcome to bring their own ceramic piece to repair, however they may not complete the repair during the workshop depending on its size and complexity.

Guests can bring their own piece and discuss its feasibility with Amparo, the workshop instructor, on site. It's also worth noting that breaking the piece is part of the workshop experience!
