Wing Luke US Immigration & Naturalization Service (INS) Building Tour
Join the Seattle Clemency Project for a tour of the former INS Detention Center exhibit to experience the history of immigrant defense work.
Step inside the historic INS building where many Seattle Clemency Project clients were subjected to indefinite detention practices in the 1990s. You will hear how litigation led by Jay Stansell at the Federal Defenders successfully challenged these practices, and how Seattle Clemency Project volunteer lawyers are securing final deportation relief for those same individuals today. After the tour, we will walk to the Wing Luke Museum for a reception and panel discussion, where you will hear from lawyers and clients who navigated indefinite detention and deportation proceedings together. We hope you can join the tour to experience the historical impact of our work firsthand.
