Converge45 Opening Reception: Gerald Clarke's "Between the Lines"

Join the Native Arts + Cultures Foundation and Converge45 for the opening of Between the Lines, a new installation by Cahuilla artist Gerald Clarke at the Center for Native Arts + Cultures.

Gerald Clarke is a Cahuilla artist, educator, and tribal leader whose work uses wit and material innovation to expose historical and present-day injustices. Created for the 2026 Converge45 Triennial, Between the Lines examines the performativity of land acknowledgments through a 16-foot “rubber stamp” sculpture, stamped prints contrasting words like Unceded and Sorry, and new collaborative prints and video work.

The opening reception invites visitors to hear directly from Clarke about the ideas behind the exhibition, experience the installation, and connect with community.

Exhibition Hours

• Following the opening reception, Between the Lines will be open to the public:
• August 29 – October 17, 2026 (closed October 10)
• Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays
• 1:00–4:00 PM
• Admission is free.
